Matt, you are so right when you say many of what we consider tasks are actually projects. And I really identified with your example of putting off a follow-up call and then realizing why you are. Time to nibble on the elephant!

Tasks are simple. If you try to finish the tasks then think that you have completed the project. You just need to know what you have to and when to do.

I want to thank you and your amazing team for the great work you have done organizing my basement, attic and office and setting me up for a more organized life. What freeing experience! My only disappointment is I didn't find you a lot sooner! You accomplished a job that seemed impossible, with years of clutter to sort out. Your team was able to do it in a remarkably quick, painless and encouraging manner with wit, and sensitivity. You and your staff are all wonderful, honest, skilled and intelligent people. You are truly miracle workers!!! Thank you so much!

What a brilliant concept. As a business owner that wears several hats (Sales, marketing, accounting) I am now feeling the need for creating some dedicated zones. You now have me thinking about how to apply the concept of a work zone on my computer. File Folders is obvious, but then there are also bookmarks, and other things. We have been developing SharePoint sites for clients and I'm now wondering if I could apply a work zone concept to design of them. Keep your thoughts coming!

Karen, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to your inquiry. I have used several different smart phones and definitely find them useful for scheduling fixed events
and information, especially with the automatic syncing of Mobile Me, but I do not find them find them as compelling for actionable items as a handwritten note.
Whether it's an electronic device or a spiral notebook, you don't want your to-do's to get locked inside. That said, if you are good at getting your to-do's to done
with an electronic device, I have no problem with it.

I do the same thing with my recipes, assuming you're talking about the loose leaf binders. If you mean the large SPIRAL binders with dividers, I'd be shocked to hear that works well.

I keep my favorite recipes organized with a notebook with divider tabs. It is far better than recipe cards or torn pages stuck inside of cook books.

I LOVE THIS SOLUTION! Seems like it would be easy to implement. I need something like this in several rooms, but I think I'll start in my "home office" and see how well it works for me, including what size containers I really need.

Everything you say makes sense. However, I couldn't help noticing the absence in your post of electronic devices. This makes me wonder if you have not found them to be effective tools....
