Real Estate Ads: What They Say, What They Mean

Guest post by Gay Gasser

We work with a lot of realtors, helping their clients declutter their homes for a faster sale. My friend Gay Gasser, who has a background in real estate, offers up some sage advice to home buyers.

Are you getting ready to buy a house? Here’s a helpful guide to deciphering those flowery real estate ads:

Mature Trees– Ready to fall on house

Rustic Charm-Snakes under the porch

Desirable Neighborhood – Extravagantly overpriced

Great Potential– Nothing worth saving

Move In Condition-All rooms have new coat of cheap, white paint.

Meticulously Maintained- Appliances over 50 years old

Open Floor Plan- All supporting walls removed

Easy to Show-Been vacant for years

One of a Kind-Ugly as sin

Beach Community– In a flood zone

Quiet Neighbors – home backs to a cemetery

Convenient- Rear yard abuts the throughway

Funny stuff. Do you have a favorite?

Many thanks to Gay Gasser of Mirth in a Box  for this fine blog post. Mirth in a Box sells fun and funny care packages.
