hazardous-wasteI’ve been organizing a lot of garages lately and the question of where to dispose of hazardous waste comes up a lot. Here are some answers for local towns, starting with Greenwich this Saturday.

These events are for residents only so please have driver’s license or vehicle registration readily available. No commercial (business) loads are accepted.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTES INCLUDE:
Garage. Gasoline, auto care products, oil-based paints, stains, thinners, spray paints.
Garden. Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, etc.
Household. Cleaners, polishes, mercury thermometers, pet care products, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, etc.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
Ammunition/flares or explosives (call Police Department)
Latex paint (remove lid, let dry, throw in garbage)
Medical & biological waste
Asbestos (State Health Department)
Radioactive material
Cooking oil
Electronics
