I recently tried out the SimpleHouseware Under Sink 2 Tier Expandable Shelf Organizer. Here is my product review for it. The motivation for seeking an under sink storage system is the waste of vertical space without it. Also, you can’t find many items that are hidden in the back. Of course the main challenge with under sink storage is the awkward drain pipe in the middle. The Under Sink 2 Tier Expandable Shelf Organizer is a very well thought out product. I’ll call it the US2TESO to save on words per sentence.
The US2TESO’s greatest strength is it’s versatility. It works equally well in the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink. With its expandable rail, US2TESO can be as narrow as 15 inches or as wide as 25 inches. You are given a variety of perforated steel panels to configure according to your sink’s needs. This is how you are able to store items comfortably around the drain pipe. There are 3 large panels (6-3/8”) and 4 small panels (3-1/8”).
My standard rule on systems is “quantity dictates systems” and that certainly applies to the US2TESO. Everybody will have different quantities of items and different shapes and sizes to go under the sink. I certainly discovered a lot of forgotten an unused items hidden there. I glad to see those gone. As long as you are left with a reasonable quantity, the US2TESO can accommodate. Based on my needs I chose the 2 inch and 9 inch shelf levels. You can also choose a 5.5 inch and a 13 inch level. From my after shot, you can see I opted for taller items on top, shorter items on the bottom.
I don’t find anything to be tightly crowded and I love how visible and accessible everything is. The clear Lucite bins don’t come with the US2TESO. I find the useful for keeping things from sliding off and maximizing visibility. They are easy to slide forward so you can see and access items in the back. The clear Lucite bins are available at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
Quick assembly, reasonably priced
I have tried other under sink organizers and they don’t compare in versatility and accessibility. Assembly is easy, less than 15 minutes. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver. Also, I found the cost of the US2TESO to be very reasonable at just $19.97.
In my book The Circulation Solution, I talk about the concept of “Frequency merits facility.” The more often you need to do something, the easier it should be. If you are accessing items under the sink daily, this may be an unexpected priority.
Less time with the frequent/ unimportant things means more time for the rare/ special things. This is why I highly recommend the Under Sink 2 Tier Expandable Shelf Organizer.
